James D'Angelo

James has had a varied career as a musician (pianist, organist, composer), music lecturer and tutor in higher education, writer on music and sound therapy, and a healing sounds workshop leader.

An American from New York, James has resided in the UK for the last 28 years. His career continues to be balanced between working as a sound therapist, as a performing musician and as a published composer.

Over the last 18 years James has developed therapeutic sound  workshops called 'Soundspirit' which are the result of his research into sound healing practices, his study of self-actualising psychology, the practice of sacred Sufi movements and his initiation into Reiki healing.

He has appeared at all the leading venues in England and Scotland as well as undertaking engagements in Ireland and the Isle of Man. He has been invited to present at events like the Findhorn Visionary Voices conference and the Mystic & Scientists annual conference. More recently he toured the USA and presented at the International Sounding Healing Conference (Santa Fe).  A CD recording of his sacred choral music sung by the Washington National Cathedral Choir will be released commercially in 2013.  He will be featured as a composer and performer at the 2013 Three Choirs Festival (Gloucester).

He is the author of three books: Healing with the Voice, The Healing Power of the Human Voice and Seed Sounds for Tuning the Chakras to be published in September 2012. He holds a PhD degree from New York University and both Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees from the Manhattan School of Music (New York). His sound healing work has been endorsed by the leading figures in the field, including Don Campbell, Jonathan Goldman, Chloe Goodchild and Joshua Leeds.
