The end goal of developing yourself spiritually may be enlightenment, wisdom, peace, insight, self-awareness, or simply to become a more loving and compassionate human being. The journey is almost always as important as the end goal itself, and in the mythology of many cultures, it is seen as 'the hero's quest' to retrieve the prize of greater consciousness and light. The path may not always be smooth, and the 'dark night of the soul' is for some an integral part of a deeply transformative experience.
Developing oneself spiritually may require study, meditation, mindfulness, mastering one's emotions, living by an ethical code, helping others and changing one's habits. Along the way, you are likely to experience enhanced intuition, psychic skills, higher states of consciousness, a greater understanding of cosmic laws (such as Karma and the Law of Attraction) and inner calm.
