We all know that music, sound and singing can lift our mood, get our pulses racing or take us completely out of ourselves, but sound healing focuses this power with the intention of moving us into a state of calm, reverence, universal oneness and even ecstasy. Chanting mantras or prayers, toning (intoning a single vowel such as Ahhh or Om), kirtan, or playing Tibetan singing bowls, crystal bowls, bells or tuning forks, usually within a group setting, will change your brain state and open you to a powerful experience of the sacred, bringing a deep sense of peace and harmony.
