Gentle and slow movements such as in Tai Chi or Qi Gong can, according to exercise scientists from the University of Birmingham, be as beneficial as high-energy Zumba classes in that they produce a similar increase in heart rate and decrease in blood pressure.
Tai Chi and Qi Gong promote general well-being, reduces stress and are forms of exercise particularly suited to older people, whilst for those with highly-pressurised lives they can bring welcome serenity.
